Honda Lets Auto Enthusiasts Peek at New Products

Just because Honda has been holding back from the mad rush to spit out new vehicle technologies doesn't mean its cogs aren't turning. In fact, while others were out stealing the spotlight, Honda engineers were working hard behind the scenes. And soon it will be time for the clever automaker to pull back the curtains and reveal its creations.

Starting in 2012, Honda will release a whole slew of new products and innovations. A select group of media personnel were even allowed to take a sneak peek at the company's R & D center in Japan. Honda of Bowie got ahold of some of the juicy details and is more than happy to share with those in the Bowie area. We could go on for days but here are some of the highlights to look for:

  -          Variable valve-timing, twin camshafts and direct injection
-          4-cylinder engines ranging from 1.0- to 2.4-liters
-          Seven-speed dual clutch gearbox
-          World's most efficient two-motor hybrid system
-          Improved Continuously Variable Transmissions

In addition to these new products, Honda has also revealed a few tidbits concerning upgrades for the 2013 model year. More specifically, we can tell you that a refreshed 2.4-liter will makes its way into the next version of the Honda Accord while we can expect an output of 148-hp on a new 1.8-liter for a mid-cycle model of the Honda Civic.

We at Honda of Bowie hope this preview has motivated you to keep an eye on Honda as it progresses into the New Year. We sure will be! If you have any questions regarding these details or any other aspects of Honda research and development, don't shy from talking to us in person at 2260 Crain Highway Bowie, MD 20716.
