Honda Plans to Sell Diesel Cars in India

Across the U.S. and Canada diesel cars are making a comeback. Across the pond, in countries like the United Kingdom and Germany, diesel is one of the most widely-used forms of fuel for any type of vehicle.
In India, gasoline prices have been rapidly increasing partly because of the country's large population. In order to fight off a fuel crisis, exporters of cars to India, such as Honda, are designing alternative engines for smaller cars. Soon, a Honda Fit with diesel powerplant will be available throughout that large country.
Honda Siel Cars India senior vice-president (Sales and Marketing), Jnaneswar Sen, said: "The Research and Development team in Japan is developing diesel engines. It is premature to say that the products will be rolled out on diesel (platform)."1
In terms of sales, Honda vehicles make up around twenty percent of the automotive market in India. The two, top-selling, Honda vehicles in India include Brio (an India exclusive) and Jazz (the European and Australian name for Fit).
Maybe one day vehicles at Honda of Bowie - 2260 Crain Hwy - Bowie, MD 20716, will also come with diesel engine options for our loyal Honda drivers to test drive.
