Honda Releases Concept for 2013 Honda Accord Lineup

Is it possible to make a best-selling model even better? When the automaker is Honda it sure is. The Big H recently released its new Accord concept at the North American International Auto Show and with it, an admirable assemblage of ninth-generation features.

Rolled out on a more athletic styling platform, the Accord coupe concept provides an almost complete look at the 2013 Accord lineup. Yep, that's right. Honda of Bowie did say lineup. Not only will the next model year put a fresh spin on the current Honda Accord sedan, it will revive the Accord Hybrid of the last generation.

Starting with the model's gas-only variants, Honda offers up a new Earth Dreams 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder with 181-hp and 177 pound-feet of torque for the base engine. Moving up in displacement, 2013 Accord buyers can also opt for a 3.5-liter V6 mated to a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. Those who are looking to lighten their fuel-economy load can go for the revamped Honda hybrid powertrain. Unlike previous eco-friendly offerings, the 2013 Honda Accord Hybrid will grab power from an all-new two-motor plug-in hybrid system comprised of a 6-kWh lithium-ion battery, 120-kilowatt electric motor and 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine.

Packed with the latest Honda safety innovations including lane departure warning and blind-spot detection, the refreshed Accord is more in-touch with tomorrow's technology than ever before. Thanks to refined, sleek styling and a noteworthy weight reduction, the model is also adds improved handling to its checklist.
